Apparently it was VERY common for these old houses to have an a huge number of nails in every board, coming from every direction. Bob found that using a reciprocating saw to saw through the nails in the bottom of the wainscoting in the kitchen was a good way to save the boards so we can reuse them.

Is that a floating house?? We had to jack up the back wall at least 2 1/2 inches, but it is fully supported underneath and after replacing the lowest boards, we will be ready to pour concrete to finish the foundation. All the rooms (except the last one) are quite level. It feels weird right now when I walk across the floors and they are level.
